Diego is a senior energy executive with over 20 years of experience across the Energy,
Telecom and Digital Infrastructure sectors. He currently holds a global leadership role
at Iberdrola, one of the world’s largest utilities, where he oversees venture capital and
strategic investment, technology intelligence, and the development of new demand
side electrification businesses across transport, buildings, industry and data centers.
For over a decade, Diego has led Iberdrola Ventures – PERSEO, the group’s
corporate venture capital and venture building program, with over 200M€ deployed
and a portfolio spanning Europe and the Americas. The program combines direct
investment in emerging energy and infrastructure technologies with the creation of
new businesses from within Iberdrola, including CPD4Green (data centers),
Carbon2Nature (carbon credits) and EnergyLoop (wind blade recycling). He has
served as board member or observer at companies and funds across Europe and the
US, including Wallbox (NYSE: WBX) or Stem (NYSE: STEM) and the EIF-backed
Neotec Fund of Funds.
Since 2025, he leads globally Iberdrola’s demand electrification strategy, overseeing
P&L and business development across EV charging infrastructure, building
decarbonization, industrial electrification and data centers.
Prior to his current role, Diego built his career in technology, innovation and
entrepreneurship across the Telecom and Energy sectors in Ireland and Spain,
including positions at eircom and Telefónica Digital, before joining Iberdrola in 2008
as a founding member of its corporate venture capital program.
He holds an M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad
Politécnica de Madrid, an Executive Program in Venture Capital from UC Berkeley
(Haas School of Business), and a Master in Energy Business from the Club Español
de la Energía. He is also an occasional guest lecturer in MBA programs at Imperial
College London, IE Business School and Universidad de Salamanca.
