Over the course of a distinguished 39-year military career started as a fighter pilot, Denis Mercier held a wide range of operational and senior staff positions. In 2012, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the French Air Force, and in 2015 became NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, based in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.
In October 2018, Denis Mercier joined the Fives Group as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Denis Mercier also serves as Co-Chair of the MEDEF International New Space Task Force and sits on the board of Forvia, Actia Group, and Helsing.
In addition, Denis Mercier is a member of the strategic council of several organizations, with a particular focus on defense, cybersecurity, and the New Space sector, and contributes to studies conducted by international think tanks. Since 2026, Denis Mercier has joined the Strategic Foresight Committee of the French Red Cross.
